
December capped off a relatively quiet year on the poker legislation front in the US. However, the month itself was fairly eventful. Let’s take a look back at what legislative events happened in December, in case you missed it.
On Wednesday at 1:00pm ET, there will be a hearing on internet gambling in front of the United States House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. The hearing, which will be held in the Rayburn House Office Building, is entitled “A Casino in Every Smartphone – Law Enforcement Implications.”
According to the Poker Players Alliance, a hearing in the House Oversight Committee about the Sheldon Adelson-backed Restoring America’s Wire Act, or RAWA, is on tap for December 9. According to the Poker Players Alliance, the main lobbying voice for poker players on Capitol Hill, a bill could be introduced in the US Congress that “would block new states from licensing online poker while a federal study is conducted.”
