SUNDAY MAJORS: Van Fleet and Schemion Score PokerStars Wins

This past Sunday in the world of online poker, a Brazilian scored his first six-figure cash, Jonathan ‘apestyles’ Van Fleet was back in the winner’s circle, and Ole ‘wizowizo’ Schemion locked up two wins on PokerStars.

Brazil’s ‘Giant_Santos‘ secured their first six-figure online cash after winning the PokerStars $109 Sunday Million for $102,920. The prize pool crept over the $1m guarantee after 10,204 entrants took part, and after the mammoth field had been reduced to just three a money-deal was agreed. ‘tramonto85‘ took the second-largest share worth $68,851, but ultimately departed in third place. ‘jimmyduraide‘ had $66,496 locked up, but was unable to go the distance, exiting in second place, as ‘Giant_Santos’ took the title for their 67th PocketFives gold medal.

Van Fleet beat Michael ‘mczhang’ Zhang heads-up to take down this week’s PokerStars $2,100 Sunday High Roller for $38,840. The UK’s ‘Malaka$tyle‘ banked $20,170 in third place before online crusher Zhang lost out in the final battle and departed as runner-up for $27,889. Van Fleet added yet another title to his name and crossed $10.6m in online earnings in the process.

Former Sunday Million bronze medalist ‘Pendall‘ came through a 933 player-field in the PokerStars $530 Bounty Builder High Roller to win over $58,000. The Russian player got the better of former Sunday Million and Sunday Warm-Up champion ‘AchoBogdanov‘ heads-up with the latter banking $28,172 + $14,837 in bounties. There was also a familiar name in third place with Scott ‘aggrosantos’ Margereson picking up the bronze medal for $20,650 + $10,694.

The PokerStars $215 Sunday Warm-Up saw the top two agree to another money deal in the day before ‘ryzio‘ claimed the overall victory. 747 entrants created a $149,400 prize pool, with ‘99dm84‘ hitting the rail in third place for $13,367 – just a year after taking fourth place. With the deal now in place, the heads-up battle saw ‘DIGITEAM‘ miss out on the title, banking $20,131, and ‘ryzio’ reigned victorious for $23,672.

Schemion stole the headlines of two High Roller Club events on PokerStars, the $1,050 Sunday Supersonic and$1,050 Sunday Warm-Up. In the Supersonic, he bested a field of 137 entries to take home a first-place prize of $29,212. In the Warm-Up, Schemion topped a field of 144 entries to win $30,225.

The partypoker $5,200 High Roller The Big Game returned to the Sunday schedule, and with it came a $500,000 guarantee. The prize pool hit $595,000 after 119 players stumped up the big money buy-in, and the final nine all locked up $14,875. ‘BlueMagic1‘ took the bronze for $74,375 before ‘The Undecided‘ took the first of two six-figure prizes in second place for $104,125. Ultimately, ‘SleevePatrol‘ took the title and with it the massive $145,775 first-place prize.

‘Jizoint‘ won over $83,000 after victory in the partypoker $2,100 Sunday High Roller. A $360,800 prize pool was created after 176 entrants took to the online felt and with big bounty prizes on the line, ‘No_No_No‘ banked $22,672 + $8,629 in bounties for third place. ‘bfklg‘ was the unfortunate final player to lose the prize on their head, and departed as runner-up for $32,227 + $18,407, with ‘Jizoint’ awarded $32,262 + $51,745.
