SUNDAY MAJORS: Ivan ‘ivanvilchez8’ Vilchez Tops Sunday Million

Ramiro Petrone has a firm grasp on the #1-ranking in Argentina, but on Sunday, Ivan ‘ivanvilcez8’ Vilchez picked up a career-best score and could soon find himself hot on the heels of Petrone. Vilchez outlasted 5,694 other players to win the PokerStars Sunday Million for $153,830.

Vilchez beat a final table that included runner-up ‘notbacked’, third place finisher Felipe ‘lipe piv’ Boianovsky and former Sunday Million runner-up, ‘blazinchron’. His previous best cash came in March 2016 when he finished runner-up to ‘DipesLIVES’ in a partypoker Powerfest event for $136,212. Along with the cash, Vilchez also picked up 1,067.24 PLB points and should be the #5-ranked player in Argentina when the rankings are updated later this week.

Anton ‘anteen’ Bertilsson beat Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom heads-up to win the $2,100 PokerStars High Roller Club event for $47,008. Blom had to settle for $36,103 as the runner-up. Team PokerStars Pro Igor Kurganov finished in third place for $27,728. Bertilsson also picked up another $5,439 for his fifth place finish in the 888poker Sunday Mega-Deep.

Joao ‘Xungazz’ Oliveira won just almost $72,000 for his victory in the $530 Bounty Builder High Roller event on PokerStars. An impressive $30,220.87 of his earnings came from bounties. Ukraine’s ‘Remi Lebo_10’ grabbed just over $41,000 for his runner-up performance.

Conor ‘ADRIEN_BRODY’ Beresford,  the #7-ranked player in the United Kingdom, banked $45,000 for winning the partypoker Sunday Super High Roller. The #2 and #3-ranked players in the world both final tabled this event. Playing under his partypoker screenname, ‘PhileasFogg’, ‘hellohellohello’ earned $8,400 for finishing fifth while ‘C Darwin2’, playing under his ‘HellmuthTheGr8’ partypoker screenname, took home $7,200 for his sixth place finish.
