RANKINGS: ‘veeea’ Charges to #2; Trails ‘C Darwin2’ By 23 Points
Every year the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker causes the PocketFives Rankings to shift dramatically. It took just four events for the first of the top-ranked players to grab a title and make a big move upward.
Russia’s ‘veeea‘ won Event #4 ($1,050 Progressive KO) for almost $200,000 and 781.34 PLB points to move from #4 to #2. He’s now just 22.62 points behind Sweden’s ‘C Darwin2’. It’s been 19 months since ‘veeea’ last held down the #1 spot.
It’s not like ‘C Darwin2‘ has been idle though. The Swede – one of 10 in the Top 25 – hasn’t hit a massive WCOOP score yet, but has enjoyed success in the partypoker Powerfestseries. He won Event #1, Event #32, finished runner-up in Event #20 and 13th in Event #12. Those four cashes earned him just over 909 PLB points. He picked up an additional 145.39 points for a 32nd place finish in WCOOP Event #9.
The names in the top 10 remained identical to last week with just a bit of reshuffling. With ‘veeea’ going to #2, ‘lena900‘ fell one spot to #3.Andreas ‘r4ndomr4gs’ Berggren went from #5 to #4, Robin ‘inhoo’ Ylitalo
dropped from #3 to #5. Conor ‘1_conor_b_1’ Beresford and ‘Ariados‘ swapped the #6 and #7 spots. Swedes ‘Sheater‘ and ‘DeathbyQuads‘ moved to #8 and #9 respectively while former #1 Nicolas ‘PokerKaiser’ Fierro dropped from #8 to #10.
The biggest mover of the top 25 this week was Diego ‘MrBittar’ Bittar. The Brazilian picked up five qualifying cashes this week, including 355.67 from taking down Powerfest Event #20. He also won a PokerStars $109 Six Max NLHE event as well.
