Brazil’s Gabriel Tavares Wins Sunday Million for Career-High Score

Just two weeks ago, Gabriel ‘gtavares10’ Tavares finished runner-up in the 888poker XL Blizzard Main Event for a career-high $60,100 score. On Sunday, he nearly doubled that by winning the PokerStars Sunday Million.

Tavares, currently ranked #33 in his native Brazil and #131 worldwide, topped a field of 10,804 runners to win $110,883.75 to break through the six-figure barrier for the first time ever. Russia’s ‘serg.82g‘ earned $80,462.89 as the runner-up while another Brazilian, ‘Pelckito‘ came in third place for $58,391.94.

The partypoker MILLION had a $3,236 overlay this week and the top two finishers each took home $100K+. ‘Eh juxto‘ banked $153,000 for coming out on top while ‘BuddyRW‘ picked up $106,800 for falling one spot short. Third place finisher ‘Hedger16’ earned $68,500.

‘Jizoint‘ beat out 114 other entries to win the $5,200 buy-in partypoker Big Game for $131,550.30. ‘BaBaDeBaBa‘ added $93,964.50 to their bankroll for a silver medal performance and ‘LittleRussia‘ rounded out the podium finishers, coming in third place for $67,117.50.

The GGPoker GG Masters had its second-largest field ever with 2,088 players – up from the 2,032 that played last week. Topping that field earned ‘BabaSchlumpf‘ a $44,821.56 score. Runner-up ‘nari111’ earned $31,950.33 while ‘Kench’ walked away with a third place finish and $22,775.28.

The 888poker Sunday Mega Deep fell short of the $100,000 guarantee again. This week, 716 entries and 265 rebuys created a $1,900 overlay. Brazilian ‘franguet‘ won $18,750 for beating the field, including runner-up Martin Jacobson. The former World Series of Poker Main Event champion won $13,500 for coming in second place while ‘CKLouis’ won $10,000 for finishing third.
