The dramatic conclusion of the ninth Super High Roller Bowl have played out in Northern Cyprus and after a thrilling final table, Seth Davies took the title and  $3.2m top prize. The Merit Royal Diamond Hotel & Spa has played host to the series of events this week as players such as Roman Hrabec, Masashi Oya and Adrian Mateos have all booked wins across the fortnight. The last victory was reserved for Davies as he triumphed while others such as Jeremy Ausmus fell just short.

Maue and Pardo Punished 

With four players making the money in the final event, getting off to a strong start at the final table was crucial. Davies it was who did so, as he got the better of German pro Leonard Maue. The German was all-in with ace-jack for 11 big blinds but ran into Davies’ pocket jacks to bust. The finish was worth $750,000 to Maue, as he left the action and headed to the rail.

After winning a pot that didn’t go to showdown with a turned straight against Juan Pardo, Davies had over half of the chips in play and he was making his stack count. Pardo duelled with Jeremy Ausmus for the chance to go heads-up with Davies and it was Ausmus who missed out. Pardo even had time to win a pot off Davies before he busted Ausmus.

When the end came for Ausmus, it was a very standard spot for an execution. All-in with king-nine, Ausmus, who sold his action to this event on PokerStake, was called by Pardo with ace-six and while a king did land on the flop, so too did an ace and with no further help on turn or river, the American busted for $1.2 million. 

Davies Passes Spanish Inquisition 

Heads-up, Seth Davies began with a stack of 4.26 million, a little more than Pardo’s pile of 2.94 million. Improving his lead in the first hand, the second hand of heads up play saw the event conclude. Raising with eight-seven, Davies saw Pardo call with four-three and went to the flop. By the turn, Davies had made the nut straight and while Pardo came along to the river with what was a dead-drawing straight chance of his own, Davies was in dreamland. 

Pardo’s weaker straight came in on the river and that was it – an inevitable all-in and call came, as although Pardo used several time bank chips weighing up his decision, he couldn’t escape his fate and called his stack to his doom., congratulating Davies on his victory. Pardo’s runner-up prize of $1.9m was a great one, as Davies took the $3,206,000 top prize. 

While Ausmus fell just short of glory in third, it was a very successful week for the American, as he took over at the top of the PokerGO Tour Leaderboard, overtaking Michael Rocco and providing a great return on the investment of everyone who backed him on PokerStake too.

Davies Deals Pain, Overtakes Seiver on Money List 

The dominant performance of Davies in the finale of this week’s Super High Roller Series was befitting his status as one of the toughest nuts to crack in the elite world of poker’s high roller circuit. It may only have moved Davies up to 13th on the PGT Leaderboard, not yet a guarantee to make the qualifying top 40 for the season-ending million-dollar Freeroll Championship. 

What is likely far more important to Davies is the bragging rights he now has over some stellar names on the All-Time Money List on The Hendon Mob. Going past legends such as Daniel Colman, Danny Tang, Brian Rast, Mike Watson and Antonio Esfandiari on the list will be important to Davies but even better will be overtaking Scott Seiver. 

Davies’ fellow American won three WSOP bracelets across a super summer in Las Vegas but all those events together don’t amount to Davies’ success in this event in financial terms. Davies previous best-ever score was the million dollars he took for coming second in the 2023 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $100k Super High Roller. Now, he has surpassed that score three times over in one magical weekend in Northern Cyprus.
