Brock Wilson
Brock Wilson won the seventh and penultimate event of the 2024 Poker Masters in Las Vegas.

The seventh event of eight in this year’s 2024 PGT Poker Masters was a thriller, as Brock Wilson went wire-to-wire on the final day to grab victory and pay off PokerStake investors on the way. With just one event to come, the purple jacket that goes to the winner of the 2024 Poker Masters, along with a $25,000 PGT Passport and $10,000 PokerStars NAPT Gold Pass could be anyone’s.

Bonomo and Negreanu Miss the Money

There were 76 entrants in the $15,000 buy-in Event #7, with just 11 places paid. The prizepool of $1,140,000 just eluded players such as Justin Bonomo, Jeremy Ausmus and Daniel Negreanu. It was another Daniel who busted on the bubble as Daniel Weinand was all-in and at risk with 9h9d and lost a flip to Brock Wilson’s KdQs as a queen came on the flop and no help came on turn or river for the unfortunate ‘Bubble Boy’ Weinand.

Heading towards the final table, Alex Foxen lost a coinflip to bust in 11th for a min-cash worth $34,200. Victoria Livschitz also cashed for the same amount when her Kh6h was dominated to defeat by Michael Moncek’s Ks7s after both a six and a seven fell on the flop. Justin Saliba also won $34,200 when his 6c6s failed to hit against Brock Wilson’s AsAh.

The final eight convened with Wilson firmly in charge, and soon after they did, Nick Seward scored his fifth cash in seven events. Sadly for Seward, all of those cashes have been outside the podium places and once again he claimed only $34,200 when he rivered two pair only for that final card completed the straight of Brock Wilson, who scored yet another elimination.

Foxen Falls in Sixth Place

The final seven were led by Wilson with 2.61 million chips, as players such as Michael Moncek (1.81m) and Seth Davies (1.51m) were closest to the chip leader. John Riordan was short stack but he got an early double. Clemen Deng enjoyed no such fortune as 7d7c were no good on a board of 9s4d3c9c8h as Davies tabled Ah9h for turned trips and sent Deng home for $45,600.

Kristen Foxen made it all the way to sixth place when she called off Wilson’s four-bet shove pre-flop. Foxen showed 7h7c but she was way behind Wilson’s JdJc and stayed that way through the Td2s2hAd8s board to depart for $57,000. Wilson was taking out players with almost every opportunity he had and with 4.5 million chips, had more than double anyone else’s stack as the other four players looked to hang onto his coattails.

Coming back the next day, Seth Davies wasn’t the shortest but left first in fifth place for a score of $79,800. Four-betting all-in pre-flop with Ah3h, he was called by Wilson, who again had JdJs and a board of Ts7d4hKh8c sent Davies home outside the top four.

Wilson the Clear Winner

With four players left, David Stamm was light and soon floated away with $108,300 as his Kc7s lost to Moncek’s As3s after a board of Jh5d2dAdAc played out, giving Moncek trip aces on the river. That pot gave Moncek a foothold on the chip mountain of Wilson’s but it wasn’t much, with the chip leader on 7.07m, Moncek on 1.58m and John Riordan on 840,000.

Riordan battled bravely but lost out in third place for $153,900. All-in with 6d6c, he was called by Wilson with Tc8h as the chip leader was priced in to click call. A flop of AhTh3h put Wilson ahead and Riordan was drawing to one out after the 3d turn. A Kd on the river sent Riordan home and gave Wilson 8.05m to battle heads-up, with Michael Moncek on 1.45m.

The heads-up battle didn’t last long, with Wilson moving all-in from the button with Kd6d and Moncek calling it off with Qc4c. Wilson paired up on the AsTs6h flop and after a 3d on the turn, only a queen would save the at-risk Moncek. An ace of hearts landed on fifth street and Wilson had the title and $330,600, while Moncek collected $216,600 as runner-up.

With just one event to play, two PokerStake players are at the final table of the eighth and final event. With 2.84 million chips, Aram Zobian is second in chips to Andrew Lichtenberger (3.26m). At the other end of the scale, Victoria Livschitz has just 170,000 chips and a dream but with one day to come, the fate of Event #8 is still with the poker gods.
